All Attenuators can allow for 2 of the 4 major contibutors to cranked, amp tone (#1 preamp tube distortion, #2 power tube distortion, #3 speaker distortion and #4 the physical movement of air that your speakers produce at high volumes). I had an original Rock Crusher and I can''t say enough good things about it. Sold it when I sold my Plexi now I wish I had it back. Badly. As far as attenuators go it was absolutely perfect. Built like a tank. Even sounded good choking down a 50 watt Plexi to condo volume.
